Jodhpur - day 1

We flew from Mumbai to Jodphur early in the morning (more sickness).

It's WAY hotter here than Mumbai....

The taxi driver again has a lot of difficulty finding our BnB even though I've printed off the address and a map...

Our accomodations in Jodhpur were very nice.  http://www.airbnb.com/rooms/64487

We plan out our day:
- Walk to bus station (approx 2km), walk to Palace, walk/tuk tuk to On the Rocks for dinner.

We walk 1km and decide to take the tuk-tuk for the rest of the way.  It's really very hot, and I'm still pretty under the weather.  The bus station is one of my least favourite places - you definitely have to watch your belongings a lot more carefully here, there were some kids hovering a little too close-by while we were trying to buy our train ticket.

As for the rest of the plans - we were so hot/exhausted after this one simple task that we decided instead to just head back to our room.

Just as we're dozing off for a much needed nap, our AC shuts off.  We are pretty desperate to cool off at this point, so we ask our host what we can do to get it back running.  He explains that, because they've been having such a heat wave, the government shuts off all power in Jodphur for an hour every day.  We wait...

Jenn and I both agree that we have never been so hot in our lives (I heard from someone the following day that it had gone up to 46 degrees today.. No wonder we were so hot!).  We lay down on the tile floor in our room because it was slightly cooler than the bed.  We would have had a cold shower, but the pipes are outdoors and were running only hot water.  We've never sweat so much, doing absolutely nothing before.  Our clothes were drenched by the time the power came back on .

We then mustered the energy to move to our beds and fell asleep.  We didn't go to the palace, we didn't even eat anything for dinner.  We just slept and slept and enjoyed not being so excruciatingly hot.
